Recently, a cat managed to save an abandoned baby and instantly became a hero in Russia.
Masha the cat is a stray cat from a town called Obisinks in Russia. The whole neighborhood takes care of her. The people there feed the cat every day and let him in when it’s cold.
One lady, IrnaLavoraa, is particularly fond of Masha. She loves having her around and spoiling her and she’s always worried when the cat goes missing for a day or two. One day, while doing chores, she heard strange noises coming from the basement. Irna rushed to the basement, thinking that Masha was hurt, but she had no idea what was waiting for her there.
Irna was shocked – she found a box with a crying baby and Masha keeping him warm! She immediately called the police, who took the baby away. They concluded he was about 12 weeks old and spent a few hours in the basement. A policeman said that if it wasn’t for Masha, the unfortunately abandoned baby would probably have died from the cold!
Masha was pretty fond of the baby and did not like to leave him even when the ambulance came to pick him up. Her maternal instincts did not let her abandon the baby just like his mom did.
“She was worried about the baby, running after the van when we were taking him away. She’s incredible,” the medical van driver said of Masha.
The little boy is now recovering and is in good condition while the search for his parents continues.
“Masha is always calm and friendly. Her maternal instinct took over when she heard and saw the baby and it was really lucky that she was around,” Irna says.
