Like a clever cat who saved the life of its 83-year-old owner after she fell into a ravine.
On August 14, police in Bodmin, England began searching for a missing elderly woman in the area. However, thanks to an unlikely source, it didn’t take long for them to break through.
A local woman reportedly heard a cat incessantly meowing at the corner of a large maize field.
The neighbor soon realized that the cat, named Piran, belonged to the missing woman and was trying to alert her of her whereabouts.

It turns out the 83-year-old had fallen deep down an embankment in a field near her home.
“The elderly woman had fallen approximately 70ft down a very steep embankment, with incredibly difficult access and uneven terrain,” Bodmin Police wrote.

With the missing woman finally located, Bodmin Police and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service quickly arrived to help her out of the ravine.
After she was lifted out, the Cornwall Air Ambulance transported her to hospital. Her condition is said to be stable and, according to an update, she is “in good spirits” as she continues to receive treatment.
“It’s a big compliment to all the emergency services that have worked together and to Piran,” the anonymous neighbor told BBC. “The outcome could have been a lot worse.”

While emergency responders actually did the rescuing, Piran deserves a lot of credit for saving his owner’s life. Considering the woman’s age, and how out-of-sight she was from the rescuers, it’s easy to imagine how things could’ve gone much differently if the cat wasn’t so alert.
Great job, Piran! You definitely saved the day by looking out for your owner. What a smart cat!
