In China, a pet cat went viral for appearing to cry on a home surveillance camera while alone on vacation at home. The cat’s name is Fu Fu, a two-year-old short-haired cat.
According to Fu Fu’s owner, Ms. Meng, the cat cried when she called him through the home monitor. Ms. Meng was using a phone app to check on Fu Fu when she saw this sad incident. The 17-second video, with 8 million views, made Fu Fu famous on social media as the “cat left behind.”
Ms. Meng didn’t take Fu Fu because she thought he wouldn’t adjust to her parents’ house. Fu Fu is shy and attached to her, and she enjoys spending time with him. Ms. Meng provided enough food and water for Fu Fu and regularly watched CCTV footage to ensure his safety.
In the video, Ms. Meng asks Fu Fu if he misses her and tells him she’ll be back in a few days. Fu Fu turns to the door and paws at the camera when he hears her voice.
When Ms. Meng saw this, she felt sad and decided to cut her trip short to return to Fu Fu. They all went back to Xuzhou earlier than planned.
Ms. Meng posted another video on Douyin, the Chinese TikTok, showing Fu Fu happily running towards her when she returned home after four days.
