One is facing South, the other faces North.
Yet they can see each other without mirrors.

It sounds contradictory, right? If one is facing South and the other North, shouldn’t they be looking in opposite directions?

But think about their positions.

Are we told they are standing back to back?
No.
Are we told they are far apart?
No.

Here’s the trick:

They are standing facing each other.

If one girl is facing South, she is looking toward the South.
If the other girl is standing in front of her, facing North, she is looking toward the North.

That means they are directly opposite each other — and can see each other perfectly.

Simple once you see it, right?

Sometimes the hardest riddles are solved by questioning the assumptions we automatically make.
