Neo, a small gray kitten born in a shelter to a newly homeless mother, has befriended Eenie, another kitten found at the shelter. They were only a few weeks old at the time.

The kittens then had the chance to be placed in foster homes. Neo went to one foster home with two of his siblings, while Eenie went to another.

Neo began wailing as Neo’s foster mother loaded the other two kittens into the carrier to transport them to their new home. And he couldn’t stop himself.
He wept all day and sought to snuggle with his foster mom’s arm as if it were another kitty.

Rescuers determined there was probably only one way to stop Neo from weeping.

“A great volunteer family went an hour each way to pick up Eenie so she could be with Neo,” Royal explained.
People weren’t sure if Eenie and Neo would remember each other when he arrived at Neo’s foster home. “They haven’t been together for a long time,” Royal explained. “Most of the time, cats who are paired hiss at each other at first.” We weren’t sure it would work because they had been apart for a while.”

However, there was no hissing between Neo and Eenie. When they spotted each other, they immediately started playing. “They bonded quickly and there was no more weeping,” Royal added. “They cuddled up to each other and fell asleep clutching one other.

“Animals, like humans, have big hearts and feel pain,” Royal remarked. “We’d want to see these two adopted together. Neo is a very affectionate cat. He won’t go through that again.”
