When 2-year-old boxer Freon was found by rescuer Donna Lochmann, he hadn’t seen anyone in over two weeks.
Freon’s situation came to light when a local landlord reported an abandoned dog in one of his properties to the Stray Rescue at the St. Louis Animal Shelter.
It turned out that Freon’s family had moved to a pet-free home and left him trapped on the stairs for more than a week before notifying anyone.
Lochmann immediately went to the house and found Freon curled up on a landing spot. Despite being alone, he survived with food and water left behind. Lochmann leashed him without resistance, and they left together.
In the car, Freon stood in front of the air conditioning vent, earning him the name Freon. At the sanctuary, he won everyone’s hearts and received the necessary medical care.
Once recovered, Freon found his forever family quickly. He now has a dog brother and is thriving in his new home, leaving his tragic past behind. The shelter expressed their love for him and emphasized that there is no going back.
