Benjamín Sagredo, the owner of Simon’s restaurant in Punta Arenas, Chile, recently witnessed a heartwarming scene: a tiny mouse quietly drinking from his cat’s water bowl. What’s more, his cat didn’t seem surprised or uncomfortable with the mouse’s presence, as if they were old friends.
Sometime before, Benjamín had heard strange noises coming from his kitchen, but he wasn’t too concerned since the sounds were weak and sporadic. However, his cat Simon may have had other ideas and could have discovered the intruder. Instead of chasing and catching the mouse, Simon chose to befriend it.
Benjamín was amazed by Simon’s kind-heartedness and her ability to befriend a creature that she was likely born to hunt.
He said, “They seemed very familiar. Simon was being affectionate. I decided to record it. I thought no one would believe me.”
Benjamín even gave the mouse a name – Chefcito.
After the emotional moment, he carefully picked up Chefcito and took him out of the house. However, it appeared that Chefcito felt welcomed in Benjamín’s home thanks to the feline and had no intention of leaving completely.
