A few lucky animals from the shelter caught the public’s attention and became viral stars.
This was the story of a cat named “Fishtopher” who won hearts with her sad look and search for a forever home.
Now, this “depressed” cat has a smile on his face after being adopted!
The cat was Fishtopher, 5, who quickly went viral, both for his adorably unusual name and his uniquely sad-looking appearance.
Fishtopher was found to be a stray, and rescuers say he is “not doing well at the shelter” and may be “missing his family”.
Fishtopher went viral on Twitter after his bio was tweeted by Molly Clarke, encouraging her followers to “go get Fishtopher” and also offering to cover the adoption fees.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for this sad cat to receive some good news.
On November 26, Homeward Bound announced that Fishtopher had been adopted thanks to his viral fame.
Even better, several other cats at the shelter have also found new homes thanks to the attention towards Fishtopher.
Fishtopher’s new owners found out about him through his viral social media post. According to the Washington Post, it was Laura Folts, 22, who saw the tweet and sent it to her partner, Tanner Callahan.
After Tanner submitted an application, the couple drove all the way from Baltimore to New Jersey and discovered they weren’t the only ones wanting to bring this sad-faced cat home.
But despite that health setback, the cat has been settling in well into his new home.
The couple created an Instagram account and a Twitter account to keep Fishtopher’s fans updated on his future adventures. They keep his unique name, but say he also goes by nicknames like “Fishy” and “Mister Fisher.”
And while Fishtopher was once described as “sad and depressed”, it’s obvious he’s much happier now in his new home!
