A man has shared his harrowing experience of escaping from the 40th floor of a high-rise building in Bangkok during the powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28. The tremors were strongly felt in Thailand’s capital, sending waves of panic through the city.

Following the massive earthquake, which shook both Myanmar and Thailand, the internet has been flooded with alarming videos capturing the chaos and destruction. As governments declared a ‘state of emergency,’ heartbreaking footage surfaced showing buildings swaying and crumbling and people scrambling for safety.
Among the many personal accounts, Scottish content creator Travis Leon Price shared a chilling video of his escape from a high-rise building in Bangkok during the earthquake.

In his post, he described how the room suddenly started to “sway from side to side,” initially leaving him confused about what was happening. As the situation became clear, he rushed to evacuate, making his way down the emergency stairs. According to Price, it took him a nerve-wracking 20 minutes to reach the ground floor safely.

The video, posted on Instagram under the handle ‘Travis Leon Price,’ quickly went viral, amassing over 21,000 likes as people reacted to the terrifying ordeal.

The comment section was flooded with reactions, with users sharing their own experiences and fears:
“It was pretty big in Chiang Mai. I’m from Japan, so I’m used to earthquakes, but that was Japan-level. The scary part is that Thailand isn’t earthquake-resistant at all. Gotta watch out for the next few days.”
“My first earthquake in Bangkok—absolutely terrifying.”
“I was TERRIFIED. It’s the strongest earthquake I’ve ever felt.”
“Bro, you had time to record, but you chose to walk down the stairs without slippers?”
“I was in school when it happened. I’m still shaking. We were in class when everything started moving. At first, we thought we were imagining it, but then our teacher suddenly stood up and shouted for us to run.”
The disaster has left Myanmar reeling. The death toll from a massive earthquake has passed 1000, with more than 2000 injured, the ruling military leadership has announced. Bangkok, too, suffered significant damage, with casualties and widespread structural destruction.
