Max, a shelter cat at Oromocto and Area SPCA, has a unique way of expressing himself.
He extends his arm through the cage and smacks people when he feels crossed. Max, an older cat, enjoys the attention of caregivers but has his limits.
To keep track of his no-smacking streaks, the shelter created a sign for his cage. Each day Max refrains from smacking, a day is added to the sign.
Despite his occasional smacks, Max is not a bad cat; he simply gets overstimulated. The shelter staff accommodates his preferences, allowing him to roam with other cats during cage cleaning and providing his favorite treats.
Although Max continues to smack occasionally, the shelter hopes he will find a forever home soon.
Their social media posts about Max have also helped raise awareness for other cats in the shelter.
