An animal services officer in Seguin got to cool off Thursday morning while rescuing a cat from the Guadalupe River.
Brendon Moore, Animal Service Field Supervisor, waded into the water in full uniform to rescue a black cat trapped on a log floating down the river near a boat ramp.
Moore is seen swimming out to the animal and holding it above water as he swims back to the riverbank, according to photos posted on the SPD Facebook page.
The cat was transported to Seguin Animal Services for treatment.
A spokesperson for animal services told KSAT that the cat arrived soaked and with goopy eyes.
“There’s no telling how long it was on the log,” the spokesperson said.
The cat is being given a thorough health check, and the shelter is waiting to see if an owner comes forward.
Shelter officials said they’d give an update on the cat in a few days if it became available for adoption.
