A woman in Phuket, Thailand, was on her way to work in February when she heard a tormented meow.
She stopped and find the direction of the meow.
She finally spotted it – a cat was floating in a rice field that had been flooded.
The animal was in a terrible state.
She had some sort of skin problem and there were terrible wounds all over her body.
She was also quite slow.

Luckily for the cat, the woman worked for the Soi Dog Foundation, a group that rescues dogs and cats in Phuket. So the woman picked up the cat and took her to the organization’s clinic, where the veterinary team began to help her.

The cat, which they called Rose, wasn’t abandoned, though, by the medical staff.

In addition to antibiotics, Henry said she was given medication for her skin issues. She had small scabs from where she had been scratching, so these were cleansed with antiseptic medicine, and her ears were cleaned since they were quite unclean. After starting medical therapy, she immediately regained her appetite.

Rose began to cheer up and became a loving and affectionate cat.

According to Henry, she started to trust us when she saw that she was getting help. It made him feel more comfortable in our shelter.

Two months later, Rose had made a full recovery – and she looked like a completely different cat. And in May 2017, Rose found a forever home with an expat living in Thailand. Rose’s new owner, René Carnieletto, renamed her Mukki.

Henry is thrilled that Mukki has a home with someone who appreciates her, and the rest of the Soi Dog Foundation staff is as well.
She’s adorable, Carnieletto said. At night, she always snoozes next to my legs. She screams really loud when I return after being out if I went, and she likes to be petted a bit as payment.
