Working from home has its advantages, and one of them is the increased opportunity to spend quality time with your pets. However, sometimes their presence during work can lead to trouble, while other times it can actually enhance your work experience.
This was precisely the situation for Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lyons from WFIE-TV when he had to broadcast live from his home. Even though many of us are confined to our homes, it’s still reassuring to know about the weather, so weather forecasters continue their work remotely.
Little did Jeff know that his adorable cat had aspirations of becoming a weather forecaster herself and insisted on being part of the show.
During one weathercast, Jeff’s cat, Betty, found her way under the dining room table. When the director noticed her, they requested Jeff to show her on camera. With just the final 30 seconds of the weather report remaining, Jeff decided to hold Betty in his arms for a bit of fun, completely unaware of the impact it would have.
Surprisingly, Betty’s presence on the show captivated people’s hearts, making them fall in love not just with the cat but also with the weathercast itself. The forecast quickly went viral, gaining widespread attention and praise.
